# Add Cheerful to ChatGPT

> Add Cheerful to ChatGPT with direct links, real screenshots and simple steps. Enter the server URL, sign in to Cheerful and try your first question.

You will need a [Cheerful account](https://app.cheerful.ai/sign-in?mode=signup) and a ChatGPT account that can add custom MCP servers. A work account may need permission from your workspace administrator.

To add Cheerful to ChatGPT, open Plugins, add the Cheerful MCP server and sign in. You can then ask ChatGPT about your campaigns and creator replies.

## How to set it up

### 1. Open ChatGPT’s Plugins page

Open [Plugins in ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/plugins) and sign in if asked. Click **Add**, then **Add custom MCP server**.

In ChatGPT, choose **Add custom MCP server**.

### 2. Fill in the Cheerful details

Enter **Cheerful** as the name. The description is optional. Under **Connection**, choose **Server URL** and paste the URL below.

**Copy this server URL**

Paste the whole URL, including /mcp at the end.

Enter the Cheerful details. In the next step, choose **OAuth** and create the plugin.

### 3. Choose OAuth and create the plugin

Choose **OAuth** for authentication. Leave the optional OAuth client ID and client secret blank. Read the warning and select **I understand and want to continue**, then click **Create as a plugin**.

### 4. Connect your Cheerful account

Follow the connection prompts. Sign in to the Cheerful account you want to use, review the access request and approve it. When ChatGPT shows the plugin’s tools, review them and install the plugin. If it shows a separate **Connect** button, click it to finish signing in.

### 5. Try your first question

Open [a new ChatGPT chat](https://chatgpt.com/). Type **@** in the message box and select **Cheerful**, then send the question below.

ChatGPT should use Cheerful and tell you which account is connected. This check is free and does not change anything. Once it works, try “Who replied to my campaigns yesterday?”

## Frequently asked questions

**Is Cheerful a ChatGPT connector or a plugin?**

ChatGPT calls this a **plugin** in the interface shown here. You add Cheerful with **Add custom MCP server**, then choose **Create as a plugin**. The steps follow [OpenAI’s current MCP setup instructions](https://developers.openai.com/apps-sdk/deploy/connect-chatgpt).

**Why can’t I see Add custom MCP server in ChatGPT?**

Use [ChatGPT Plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins) in your browser and sign in. Your plan or workspace rules may limit custom MCP servers; ask your workspace administrator if the option is missing. You can also [connect Cheerful to Claude](/docs/mcp/claude).

**Why is Create as a plugin greyed out?**

Enter **Cheerful** as the name and **https://mcp.cheerful.ai/mcp** as the Server URL. Choose **OAuth**, read the warning and tick **I understand and want to continue**.

**How do I check that ChatGPT is connected to Cheerful?**

In a new ChatGPT chat, type **@**, select **Cheerful** and ask “Who am I in Cheerful?” The answer should identify your Cheerful account. If it asks you to connect, finish signing in and try again. This check is free.
