How to use Claude or ChatGPT to manage your influencer campaigns
You can point Claude or ChatGPT at your own Cheerful account and then ask it questions in plain English: which campaign is underperforming, who replied yesterday, what a creator’s numbers look like, why a search was blocked. It takes about a minute to set up, there is nothing to install, and you do not need to be technical.
What makes this different from asking an AI assistant about influencer marketing in general is that it is looking at your work rather than at the internet. It reads the campaigns you are actually running, the replies actually sitting in your inbox, and the credits you have actually spent — and it can only see what your own login can see.
Cheerful can be added to Claude or ChatGPT as a connector, so the assistant answers questions about your own influencer campaigns, replies and creators using your Cheerful account rather than the public internet.
How to set it up#
- 1
Copy the connector address
It is https://mcp.cheerful.ai/mcp. That single line is the whole setup; there is no download and no key to generate.
- 2
Add it in your assistant’s settings
In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste that address. ChatGPT has the same thing under its connector settings. If you are on a company Claude workspace and the option is missing, only an organisation owner can add one — that is the most common reason this step does not work, and it is not something you have done wrong.
- 3
Sign in as yourself
The assistant sends you to a normal Cheerful sign-in. Approving it lets the assistant read your account — and only yours. Then ask it "Who am I in Cheerful?" to check that it worked.
What it is actually good at#
The honest answer is: questions that span things a dashboard keeps on separate screens. A dashboard is good at showing you one campaign. It is bad at "which of my campaigns is doing worst, and is it the mailbox or the messaging?" — because answering that means holding three screens in your head at once.
| Ask it | Instead of |
|---|---|
| Which of my campaigns has the worst reply rate this month? | Opening each campaign and comparing by eye |
| Who replied yesterday and what did they say? | Scrolling the inbox |
| Which creators are still waiting on an answer from us? | Filtering threads by status |
| Which mailbox is this campaign sending from? | Opening the campaign’s sender settings |
| Am I connected to Shopify, and is it healthy? | Checking the integrations page |
| Why was my last search blocked? | Guessing, then checking billing |
It is also useful for the thing nobody schedules time for: asking a question you would not have bothered opening the app for. That is a low bar for software and a genuinely different pattern of use.
What it cannot do, and why that is deliberate#
The connector can read and it cannot write. It cannot send an email, launch a campaign, edit a creator list, place a gifting order or change a setting. Every one of those still happens in Cheerful, where messages can be held for one-click approval.
That is a decision rather than an unfinished feature. Outreach that goes out under your name is the part of this work that most deserves a human at the keyboard, and an assistant that can see everything and change nothing is the version worth having first. If it ever changes, it will change visibly — an assistant asks before a write action, and there is currently nothing on this connector for it to ask about.
What it can see#
Exactly what you can see when you log in: your own campaigns, lists and mailboxes, plus anything your teams share with you. Not a teammate’s private work, not another brand’s data, and nothing your own account is not entitled to.
This matters on a shared workspace. Adding the connector to a company Claude account does not pool everyone’s Cheerful data — each person signs in with their own account and sees their own view. Two colleagues asking the same question can correctly get different answers.
Removing the connector in your assistant ends its access immediately.
Two things that look like faults and are not#
- A creator search takes 90 to 155 seconds. It is the same search the app runs, across hundreds of millions of creator profiles, and the wait is the work. Some assistants give up before it finishes, which reads as an error but is a timeout.
- Most creators have no public email address, so a search that returns creators without emails has not failed. Emails are found later, when a creator is added to a campaign.
One more worth knowing: if the assistant says a search cost you credits, that is right. Searches spend credits at the same rate as the app; reading your campaigns, replies and reports is free.
Where to go next#
If you want the technical version — the nine things the assistant can call, what each returns, and the traps worth knowing before you rely on it — that is on the connector page. If you would rather script this than chat to it, there is a command-line interface.
What this does not do#
- Read-only. The assistant cannot send an email, launch a campaign, edit a list, place an order or change any setting.
- It sees only what your own Cheerful login sees. It cannot read a teammate’s unshared work, and adding it to a shared workspace does not pool anyone’s data.
- On a company Claude Team or Enterprise workspace, only an organisation owner can add a connector.
- Creator searches take 90–155 seconds and spend credits at the same rate as the app. Some assistants time out before the answer arrives.
- Cheerful is not in the Claude or ChatGPT directories yet, so it will not appear if you search for it there — pasting the address is the way in today.
Frequently asked questions#
- Do I need to be technical to set this up?
- No. It is one address pasted into your assistant’s settings and a normal sign-in in your browser. Nothing is installed.
- Does it cost extra?
- No. There is no separate plan. Reading your campaigns and replies is free; creator searches spend the same credits the app spends.
- Can it send messages to creators for me?
- No. The connector is read-only. Sending happens in Cheerful, where every message can be held for one-click approval.
- Can it see my colleagues’ campaigns?
- Only the ones your teams already share with you. It sees exactly what you see when you log in — no more.
- Why is there no option to add a connector in my Claude settings?
- On a Team or Enterprise workspace only an organisation owner can add one. Ask whoever owns the workspace, or try it on a personal plan.
- Does this work with ChatGPT too?
- Yes, and with Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. Any assistant that supports connectors of this kind.
- How do I turn it off?
- Remove the connector in your assistant. Access ends immediately.
