Cheerful + Shopify integration
Connecting Shopify lets Cheerful turn a creator’s “yes, send it” into a real order in your store: the agent collects the shipping address in the email thread, prepares a $0 gifting order for the product variant the creator picked, places it in Shopify once you approve it, and creates a discount code for that creator so their sales can be counted.
Shopify is a native integration, installed as the Cheerful AI app on your store. It is the backbone of Cheerful’s gifting workflow, and the full walkthrough is in how to automate influencer gifting with Shopify.
How influencer teams use Shopify with Cheerful
Seeding campaigns without a spreadsheet of addresses
The agent asks for the address in the conversation, checks it is complete, and queues the order. Your team approves in Cheerful or with one tap in Slack, and your normal fulfilment ships it like any other order.
A code per creator, not per campaign
Each creator gets their own percentage code in a FIRSTNAME10 style (a clash becomes COREY10-2), so revenue is attributed to a person and a top performer is obvious.
Orders you can find in Shopify later
Gift orders carry a GIFTING-CHEERFUL tag and $0 line items and shipping, so finance can filter them out of revenue and ops can see every gift in one Shopify view.
Several stores, one per campaign
Brands with a US and a UK store, or agencies with several clients, connect each store once and pick which one a campaign ships from.
What the Shopify integration does
Cheerful asks Shopify for read products, read and write orders and draft orders, and read and write discounts, and nothing broader.
- Shows your Shopify catalogue inside the campaign, so creators pick a real variant
- Creates $0 gift orders with free shipping, tagged GIFTING-CHEERFUL
- Refuses an order with an incomplete address instead of shipping to a guess
- Blocks an accidental second order to the same creator unless you allow a reorder
- Creates a unique percentage discount code per creator, 10% by default
- Checks a code is unused in your store before creating it
- Reads orders so sales can be attributed to each creator’s code
- Flags Cheerful gift orders that are stuck unfulfilled, in a daily Slack alert
How to connect Shopify to Cheerful
- 1
In Cheerful, open Settings, go to Integrations and choose Shopify under the featured integrations.
- 2
Install the Cheerful AI app on your store and approve the permissions above.
- 3
When you create a gifting campaign, pick the store, the gift products and the discount settings, and choose whether orders need your approval.
What the Shopify integration does not do
- Only orders Cheerful places are tracked as gifts; orders created by hand in Shopify are not linked to creators.
- Discount codes are percentage codes. Fixed-amount or free-shipping codes are not created by Cheerful.
- Sales attribution is by code. A purchase made after watching a creator without using the code is not counted.
- Some older stores are still connected through the GoAffPro Shopify app, which also runs affiliate codes; new stores install the Cheerful AI app.
Cheerful and Shopify: common questions
- Does Cheerful integrate with Shopify?
- Yes, natively. Install the Cheerful AI app and Cheerful reads your catalogue, places gifting orders in your store once you approve them, and creates a discount code per creator.
- Do gifting orders cost anything in Shopify?
- The orders are created at $0 with free shipping and tagged GIFTING-CHEERFUL, so they do not count as revenue. Your fulfilment costs are the same as for any order you ship.
- Can I approve each gift before it ships?
- Yes. Orders can wait for approval in Cheerful or in a daily Slack digest with Approve, Edit and Skip buttons.
